What is Betaglucan?
Betaglucan is a concentrated, highly beneficial soluble fibre from the oat grain. Inside the stomach and small intestine, it forms a gel which entraps bile acids, reducing their absorption. Since cholesterol is used to make bile acids, the drop in bile acid causes the body to use more cholesterol to form more bile acids. Ultimately, this process, which is the main mechanism used by the body to remove excess cholesterol, results in decreased LDL and Total cholesterol levels.
